I’m sure you have already heard about this story on Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis. You know, the guy who attempted to blow up the fed. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to speak on this as it has been played to death on the news and all over the interwebz. But I suppose I have to say something.
Here’s the thing, there are bad people out there, people that would love to see harm to come to us. They come from all over the world, this is just another example of that. He didn’t just want to blow some stuff up, he wanted to do something “very, very, very big, and disrupt the whole country, our economy and the elections”. I don’t think this is going to stop anytime soon. We just need to continue to stop them, and like one of my buddies King Sage said, we need to address the root of what is causing these problems. Without that then it will never stop.
As an American I am very angry that this guy made an attempt to blow up a building in my country. A building that is only steps away from where I work and spend many hours of my day at. This would prove very troublesome for us here in NYC, obviously!!! It could hurt our friends, hurt us, keep us from our families, cause death, etc. Obviously this is not a good thing. The things I would like done to this guy (assuming everything being said is true) would not involve any jail time. I will say this though, he would never get to try this type of attack again. I think we need to make an example of him and send the message that this type of thing will not be tolerated here.
But let’s always remember that these are the actions of this one man, not his people as a whole. I think it’s important that we remember this. I’m glad they caught him and stopped it. I have found it slightly humorous that people online are speaking with surprise, or as if this man is doing something new. This is NYC, everything here is a target, always will be. It’s a way of life that us New Yorkers have come to accept. I only pray that we continue to foil the attempts and that no more innocent lives are lost in the process.
