Denzel Washington Fences

For some odd reason, I cannot for the life of me find the freaking review I did for this play. I swore I wrote it back when I saw it on Broadway, but I cannot find it. I suppose that it is plausible that I started it, but never finished it. That sucks.

Anyway, it has been a long time since I watched this show featuring Denzel Washington. I thought, as expected, that he did a great job. The story was extremely powerful and moving. I had long forgotten about this, but when I saw the trailer for this “new” movie called “Fences,” it all looked so familiar to me. The plot line, the actors, every thing about it just seemed so familiar.

That’s when I realized, I saw this!

The play was amazing, it dealt with a father who “settled,” and he became somewhat grumpy and stressed with life. His son is trying to follow in his shoes, and his dad begrudges him for that. Meanwhile his wife is caught up in the middle of it all, and much more that I won’t reveal here. The story is actually really complicated, and the more I think of it, the more of it is coming back to me.

I knew that this would make a phenomenal film, and I’m super happy that they did it. I can’t wait to see it, and though it actually hasn’t come out yet, I can tell you folks, based on the play, that it is a must see. Do yourselves a favor, and go watch Fences! It comes highly recommended!
