Just yesterday I wrote a piece about Atheists and their war against religion. Today I read a story on the Gateway Pundit, the article illustrates how the military is being forced to support certain groups and their beliefs while other groups are being restricted and condemned more and more.
I’ve said this 100 times, and I’ll say it 100 times over. I am not against homosexuals, I really mean it. I have some very good friends that are gay, male and female. Personally I don’t find the idea of being with man very appealing, but who am I to judge anyone that does find that appealing? Why would I have a problem with a woman loving another woman? I don’t have a problem with any of it, it really is none of my business. How does it hurt my life? It doesn’t, and I don’t have a problem with it.
It should be apparent by now that I have Conservative leanings when it comes to politics, but I am not 100% Conservative. Honestly I don’t believe anyone can be 100% anything, we are all some form of hybrids. In fact as a life long New Yorker I have been a liberal for most of my life, only recently beginning to form more of a Conservative view. But when it comes to the topic of homosexual rights, I am still very much liberal. Simply put, my opinion is to each their own. You’ll never see me gay bashing or condemning gays to an eternal hellfire, that’s just not the message that I am sending.
All that being said though, I do have a problem when the military or the government takes sides in regards to these issues. I think it is wrong that a base in Afghanistan allows a gay flag to be flown while making Christians worshipers remove a cross from their worship tent because “Atheists found it offensive”. That’s a bs call in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that I personally feel our country’s flag should be flown, not the flag of a movement or a group of people that make up the country.
Can you see why I have a problem here though? What they are saying is “We can’t offend Atheists and gays, but we can offend Christians and worshipers”.
The politically correct military and the uber liberal government can’t pick and choose what groups they will protect and which ones they will hang out to dry. That is bull crap and unacceptable. I support my gay friends, they all know this, and they have seen it. I don’t have to come on here and prove that to you. But even though I support gay rights, if you ask me whether I agree that a gay flag should be flown in place of the American flag in a combat theater then the answer will always be a resounding NO! I do not agree with it, there are places to make statements, but in the middle of a war zone I’d prefer that your focus is on staying alive while keeping your fellow soldiers alive.
With things being as they are now, if these commanders are allowing the gay flag to be flown, then how dare they tell Christian soldiers on that same base that they cannot have a cross on their place of worship! What kind of hypocritical bull crap is that? You either allow them all, or forbid them all, none of this selective crap.
What do you think?
