Men’s Health Fitness: 11 Gym Etiquette Tips for First-Timers

Men’s Health asked me what advice I could provide for newcomers to the gym. I thought I’d approach it from the angle of a group exercise instructor as I’m sure many others could provide the basics. Here is my answer:

6. Don’t Disrupt Group Exercise Classes

Some people are not aware that when a group exercise class is in session, you are not allowed to go into the room and start doing your own thing. I’ve had to ask several people who were awfully distracting to leave the room while a class was in session. If you are in a corner, quiet and out of the way, I’ll leave you alone. But most of the time, I politely ask them to step outside until class is over. – Angel Rodriguez, NYCTalking
