Assemblyman Felix W. Ortiz thinks that forcing NYC gun owners to get liability insurance in ups of $1,000,000 is a good idea. But I challenge that, if someone got shot with a handgun, I think the owner would be more concerned with criminal charges than with any ridiculous financial liability.

Don’t these politicians realize how difficult getting a gun in NYC really is? This city has one of the longest processes for getting a gun that exists in the United States. So much so that the city is in essence violating our Constitutional rights. Gun owners in NYC are the creme de la creme of society. We have to be the “cleanest” people out here, we wouldn’t be allowed to own a gun if we were dirty in any form.

What more do these guys want from us? In NYC violent crimes with handguns are committed by guns that are run up from places like Virginia and other locations, not by legal NYC gun owners. Yet these politicians keep trying to “CRACK DOWN ON THE GUNS“.  Are you guys that ignorant that you don’t realize that we are not the criminals? Please stop trying to punish us for the actions of the real criminals. Taking away a gun from me, will not get it off the streets.

You know what they are really trying to do? They are trying to make owning guns so difficult and expensive that we would just give up, or simply be unable to afford the guns legally.

By their logic I propose that every man gets penis insurance, because you know, it can be used for rape. While you are at it, we also need kitchen knife insurance and fist insurance because those too can be weapons.  Words are also hurtful so we need tongue insurance, I also propose drinker’s insurance because a drinker could end up driving drunk, and many, many people die from drunk drivers.

Why are WE THE PEOPLE who employ these guys allowing them to screw us like this? I’m reasonable, I’m willing to cooperate on many items, but guys like Mr. Ortiz are just going too far with trying to criminalize us.

You want to get guns off the streets? This is how you do it: 20 years mandatory prison sentence for a gun crime, possession, etc. 20 years, mandatory no questions asked. How about keeping criminals in prison throughout their entire term and not releasing them due to space issues or because the cable doesn’t work? You guys keep putting criminals in the streets, that’s why good guys like us feel a need to have a firearm at home. I’d carry it concealed if I could!

Think about it, please reconsider your position, my points are sane, valid and reasonable.
