As I’m riding the train this morning, I hear the too familiar, “Ladies and gentleman, backpacks and other large containers are subject to random inspection by the New York police department. Thank you for your cooperation.”
After I heard the announcement it hit me! Repetition is the mother of all learning. if you repeat something often enough, then people start to believe and accept it. Through constant repetition, via Subway announcements, and simply just getting away with it day in and day out, the NYPD has, in essence, managed to usurp our country’s constitution. This also applies to the unconstitutional “stop and frisk” policy. Although I wonder if stop and frisk policies are the only reason we are not as bad as Chicago, or the pre-Giuliani days.
At the end of the day though, the NYPD couldn’t do these things if the liberal madmen that run this state didn’t enact these laws. They’ve also destroyed our second amendment rights, and the list goes on.
I digress from the topic at hand.
The NYPD is not without its faults. We all know that they can and have over reached. However, if you look at what’s happening in Nevada, and other parts of America, you can see that we are rapidly becoming a militarized police state. Thanks Obama and company for that. Again, I digress. As I said, they are far from perfect, but they are not the villains whom the #mynypd hashtag takeover would have you believe.
This was supposed to be a move to promote nice interactions between the NYPD and regular citizens, but of course, it took a different direction. Oops, that went downhill pretty quickly. However, is it accurate and fair? Does it show the occupiers taking dumps on police cars? Does it show them smoking illegal drugs? Does it show the wrongs that they did to provoke some of those police reactions? Of course, it doesn’t. I was here during that time, and on several occasions, I had occupiers threaten me, and attempting to create a conflict. These guys are capitalizing on this now, but it is one sided, and bs. I can show pictures of occupiers launching bricks from the tops of houses at the police. That’s an assault of the highest order. A brick from a high place, gathering lots of speed, that can kill you!
My point is, yes I know the cops have done some nasty things in NYC and all over the states. However, to attempt and pass it off as if they just go around beating people up is wrong and unfair to the good officers out there. Here is an article I wrote some years ago entitled “F the police.” The article gives you a little more insight into why there is this anti-cop mentality in NYC.
