NYC cab fares may increase up to 20%.

The TLC is reviewing proposals for a cab fare hike of up to 20%. What does this mean for the everyday cab rider? Well to give you an idea, a ride that currently costs $12 will end up costing $15 or so.

Naturally the community is complaining and against the hike. Considering the rising costs of commuting costs, and overall living, this is understandable.

Cabbies however use that same logic for their hopes of an increase. There hasn’t been a fare hike in about 6 years. In those 6 years however we have seen rises in gas prices and an increase in medallion costs ranging up to 1 million dollars!

A long time cabbie by the name of Mustafa stated live on fox news “I hope they allow the increase. Even a little bit would help with increase costs so we can make a living.”

This proposal is due to be reviewed in the next few months. Are you a cab rider? How do you feel about this proposed fare hike and why?
