The Pit bull breed is currently the breed of choice when it comes to vilifying dogs in the mass media and society overall. The dogs get a bum rep in the news, and much like other dog breeds in the past, have become a form of taboo. Some cities have gone as far as banning the breed altogether. I don’t think that my coop allows us to have a bull breed dog. I’m not sure, but they ask to look at the dog before they “approve it.”
Unfortunately many out there don’t help the situation by training the dogs to be vicious and lethal. They are often depicted in music videos as terrifying, tough dogs. However, do you blame the dog for that, or their human owners? I heard of guys in my old block who claimed that they fed their Rottweilers gun powder to make them extra vicious. I’m not sure how true that is, but they claimed it.
In any case, anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Pit bulls will probably disagree with this reputation that they have. Below is a story of some police officers who were called to a neighborhood because a Pit bull was roaming around in the streets. Here is how that turned out, and it’s not how you would think! I’m glad it went down as it did!
