Officers called for pitbull make a new friend

The Pit bull breed is currently the breed of choice when it comes to vilifying dogs in the mass media and society overall. The dogs get a bum rep in the news, and much like other dog breeds in the past, have become a form of taboo. Some cities have gone as far as banning the breed altogether. I don’t think that my coop allows us to have a bull breed dog. I’m not sure, but they ask to look at the dog before they “approve it.”

Unfortunately many out there don’t help the situation by training the dogs to be vicious and lethal. They are often depicted in music videos as terrifying, tough dogs. However, do you blame the dog for that, or their human owners? I heard of guys in my old block who claimed that they fed their Rottweilers gun powder to make them extra vicious. I’m not sure how true that is, but they claimed it.

In any case, anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Pit bulls will probably disagree with this reputation that they have. Below is a story of some police officers who were called to a neighborhood because a Pit bull was roaming around in the streets. Here is how that turned out, and it’s not how you would think! I’m glad it went down as it did!

This morning, deputies responded to an Animal call in South District. A large Pit Bull was running around and neighbors…

I agree that Pitbulls are a breed that have been wrongfully vilified for a long time. We had an American Staffordshire terrier, and because it looked like a pit, ppl were scared of it. Thanks for the refreshing story.

  • Every pitbull I have met was a sweetie. The owners are another category though… Guilt by association?

  • Thanks for this post Angel. Love that story! Pitbulls DO get a bad rap because of the idiot humans who over-breed, mutilate and torture them all to have something “tough” around to cover up their own weak souls. Yeah any dog is going to get mean when it’s stomach is burning and rotting from gun powder. So stupid. I’ve heard some real horror stories on how they torture dogs to make them “mean” like locking them in dark rooms for weeks at a time, and other things. The shelters around the country but especially in NYC are sadly FULL of pits that people just throw away because they get too big or the people don’t know how to give the pup some basic obedience training. The way a dog behaves is about 95% human blame for better or worse.
Anyhoo, thanks for sharing such a beautiful story! Very heartwarming 🙂
