First and foremost, our hearts go out to the victims of the Ohio State attack. We wish them all speedy recoveries physically, and mentally.
Can you guys see how one angry religious Zealot, in this case, a Muslim, can disrupt an entire campus easily? Did you see how many officers and resources were deployed to deal with one attacker, with a butcher knife?
I don’t like to single out any one group over the actions of another, but this man specifically said that he was angry about the U.S interfering in Muslim affairs. He was a Somali, and many individuals have spoken against immigrants coming into this country, especially from Muslim areas. I’ve made my opinions on that known many times, and I won’t be going to deeply into that now. My opinion is simple, invade, destabilize, destroy homes, well, you gotta deal with the consequences of creating those refugees. Whether or not that applies to this guy in particular, I don’t know.
I do want to talk about what happened, and the proper response that should be in place. In this case, I read that students were barricading themselves behind rooms with chairs. I know it’s the smart thing to do, safety first, evade the situation, right? But personally, I’d rather be able to handle this situation with equal or greater force, rather than run and hide. This is why I own guns.
I wonder, what if these college campuses weren’t so damn anti gun? If someone had a concealed carry permit, they could have easily made quick work of this guy, neutralize the threat, and end things before he seriously hurt anyone. I know that most colleges are very liberal, and students for the most part are anti gun. Due to that, I propose another option that I’d hope could protect these individuals from themselves.
If not the students, I’ve said time and time again that there should be a few random people who are carrying concealed throughout the schools and campuses. They should be in plain clothes, unannounced, and perform an undercover type of operation to sort out this type of event. Criminals, or terrorists would generally avoid uniformed police officers. It is far too easy to simply attack somewhere else where you know that police presence is low. This is why they must be hidden among the students.
You are wondering about costs now, right? Think about the cost it runs the city to deploy a response team once an attacker begins their rampage! Factor that cost, and figure out if it doesn’t make sense to have 5 or so undercover, armed officers or security staff scattered throughout strategic locations at the schools and universities.
Look, I know that many of you are against civilians carrying guns at all, and though I disagree with you on that one, that is why I suggest this alternate option. Rather than having the students carrying guns themselves, we can compromise and provide an alternative method to protect innocent lives.
If you happen to oppose guns so much so, that you’d even fight me on this reasonable stance, then all I can say is, good luck to you and yours. I’d rather shoot someone myself, than have to run, hide, and pray that they don’t find or kill me. I know many people who feel the same way as I do, and I refuse to become a victim because of your political views.
