Remembering Aaliyah

A couple of days ago, a friend of mine posted a cover of an Aaliyah song. Listening to her cover moved me greatly, and I wanted to hear the original version. I looked up the song on youtube, and I have been listening to it for the past couple of hours. That’s how I roll ladies and gentlemen, when I become infatuated with a song, I’ll drive anyone around me crazy. I listen to it over, and over, and over.

I remember listening to Aaliyah back in the days. I used play this particular song a lot, and it had been years since I heard it, until now. As I’m watching the video, once again I feel the sadness of losing such a great artist. She was such a beautiful soul, and left us way too soon.

When the news of her passing came, I remember being at one of my buddy’s living room. We were all kind of shocked at the news and maintained hope that it was a huge mistake and she was ok. However it was not, Aaliyah was really gone.

So today, as I keep bumping this song, I honor the memory of this wonderful artist. Aaliyah, you may be gone, but you are not forgotten.
