Restaurant Review: Panera

[rating:3]

As we walked towards the mall we were all relatively hungry. We walked pass the Dallas BBQ and continued towards Panera. I see a huge advertisement for “Lobster Sandwich”, and since a yelp event some time ago where we went to “Luke’s Lobsters” I’ve become a fan of this item. At $17 this thing better taste good, I’m just saying.

So I got on line, ordered my sandwich, my wife ordered herself a “cubano”, we gave each other half of our sandwiches, and my son got a bacon and lettuce sandwich.  After you order, you wait around and they’ll call your name over a loud speaker.  When they called my name I went over and said “Dude, did you just megaphone me? Do it again man that’s freaking awesome!”

The sandwich was pretty good, the portion was pretty big and it contained a good deal of lobster. The lobster itself is on some sort of mayonnaise like sauce, on a hero. Do I feel it’s worth $17, well, considering that lobster isn’t cheap, and they gave us quite a bit of lobster, I think the cost is fair.

The cubano sandwich was pretty good as well, I enjoyed eating half of my wife’s sandwich. We both remove the pickle from it though, not a fan. My son’s sandwich was pretty basic, $8 for a few pieces of lettuce, bacon and 2 slices of bread, not cheap, and we won’t be doing that again.

For drinks we had their lemonade, it was pretty tasty. Overall the experience here was good, and though not cheap at all, I think that lobster sandwich warrants a return visit soon.
