A man by the name of Benjamin Barber has been sentenced to 6 months in jail, and 5 years probation for posting what is called “Revenge Porn.” At some point or another, we have all filmed ourselves, or taken a picture for someone, and this dude and his ex lady were no exception.
Thing is, once they split, he became upset and decided to upload material which was taken in private, and not meant for public consumption.
This isn’t something new, however, there are now laws to protect people against that. This guy was the first one to be convicted under Oregon’s “Revenge Porn” law. It is a bad thing to do, and in the past, left victims helpless. But, things are changing, and that’s a good thing.
I do find it rather interesting though, this guy will probably spend more time in jail, than convicted rapist Brock Turner, isn’t that something? That’s not to say that Benjamin Barber shouldn’t be punished, it is to say that Brock Turner should have been much more severely punished.
Barber plans to sue the city, and claims that he had “copyright” of the material. He is claiming that his 1st amendment rights have been violated. What a goofy clown this guy is.
