Wayne Dupree is a black man. When you look at the pictures of the many events that he attends throughout the United States, he is surrounded by an ocean of white people. Does that sound racist? It’s not meant to be. It is just a fact. They exist, but there are very few black conservatives. However, don’t take my word for it, let the evidence speak for itself. Check out this picture.
I’m a Latino man, Puerto Rican to be exact. Though my skin color may stand out a little less than Dupree’s, there are just as few of us latinos in the conservative ranks as well. Again, I’ll let the evidence speak for itself! Check out this picture!
This may also sound racist by your typical liberal standards, but it is not. It is just the truth, a fact. Take that how you want to take it. There are few of us, though we are trying to change that in our efforts to save this country.
All that being said, when Wayne Dupree invited me to join him in West Virginia, I was quite reluctant to go. I’m a Latino from the South Bronx. What the hell business does a Latino from the South Bronx have at a place like West Virginia? Don’t they hunt us in those types of places?
That too may sound racist, but it is not. Now I’m just taking a friendly jab at my friends from West Virginia, Shaun Adkins, Junebug, Mike Holbrook, Joshua Lyle, and the rest of them! By the way, get a look at Adkins representing the Marine Corps and Conservatives on Fox news! Check out that intense look in his eyes!
Well, we all know how wrong I was on the topic of going to West Virginia. I received nothing but love when I was out there! You can read more about that topic here.
(you can link my Clashdaily article on West Virginia in that last sentence. Maybe the last two words. “topic here” http://clashdaily.com/2014/07/puerto-rican-new-yorker-visits-gods-country-loves/)
Guys like Dupree and myself are minorities in more ways than one. We are often shunned by our “own” race. We are looked at as race traitors, sellouts, wannabe white, and Uncle Toms. I’m sure that many of you have seen the video of the NAACP treatment of black conservatives. That angry woman damn near gave herself an aneurysm attacking those guys!
I have always stood up for people like us. The few, the proud, the conservative minority. I often share why we do what we do. However, there are moments when I question myself on this. You should read some of the hateful commentary that people have written on this and many other forums. Most recently I was told by a “conservative patriot,” that Puerto Ricans like myself should all be deported back to Mexico. Yup, that’s what he said.
I know that most conservatives would not agree with this crazy guy I mentioned above, but it cannot be ignored that people like him do exist among our ranks. All I ask is that if you know someone like this guy, that you work towards educating, and getting them out of that mindset. There is no place for that kind of hatred in the USA.
Finally, I’d like to state, for the record, Puerto Ricans are not from Mexico. We are from a place called Puerto Rico, imagine that? More importantly, before anything, I am a proud American, a veteran, and a patriot.
