Stolen Valor act!

I just came across a reader’s comment on my latest Clashdaily.com column, a comment that informed me of something I was not aware of. With memorial day coming up, I have been writing article upon article about fakers, individuals pretending to be soldiers to get free stuff. I just learned that President Obama actually signed into law an act called the “The Stolen Valor Act.” Abcnews has more from when this story originally aired:

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013, introduced in January by Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.), “makes it a Federal crime for an individual to fraudulently hold oneself out to be a recipient of any of several specified military decorations or medals with the intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit,” the White House said today, announcing the signing.

I am pleasantly surprised, and though this may not necessarily apply to these people that are trying to get free drinks, and events, it may. It is a step in the right direction, and though I don’t often agree with the president, I will give him kudos for supporting this.
