Subway Restaurants Discontinue Sweet Peppers!

I went to about 3 Subway restaurants in the area, seeking answers, searching for hope! I wanted this to be a mistake, to be untrue, to be another cruel hoax against humanity. But alas, it appears to be the truth. The Subway restaurant chain has discontinued their super popular sweet peppers.

When asked about how many people purchased them, the responses ranged from 50%, to 75% of customers. This product was clearly a good seller and extremely popular. I’ve been really having second thoughts about eating there anymore. Fortunately for me, my local Subway still had a few boxes of sweet peppers left, but they made it clear, once this is gone, it’s over.

I haven’t been able to get an answer as to why exactly they have been discontinued, or if it’s all across the board. As it stands, at least in NYC, the ones I spoke with all said that the sweet peppers are gone.

This news really sucks, and as a major fan of those damn sweet peppers, I am highly disappointed with this news.

  1. Not all Subways carry them but some do. It is listed on their website as a topping that may be at a location. Sadly I moved to MA in 2011 from PA and the Subways up here don’t have them.

  2. I’m disappointed too I LOVE those peppers so does my husband who always asks for extra.please bring them back that is what makes y’alls subs better without them it’s just another sub.

  3. I will stop buying sandwiches at Subway untill the sweet peppers are back. I used to go there at least once a week, and the sandwiches are bland without the peppers. They knew they were popular, so why discontinue them?

  4. Yeah,
What a shock!! NO sweet peppers at ‘Subway”???? We’re on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and it’s the same down here, all Subway patrons are in shock, well, all that we’ve talked to. Our family loves Subway too much to boy-cot them, it would be an injustice to our local franchise owners and to the local Subway employees.
We found a very simple solution in the meantime. Just buy some of your favorite brand sweet peppers off-the-shelf at your local grocer and add sweet peppers to your Sub when you get home (if you don’t already keep sweet peppers at home).
And I’m not above even keeping some sweet peppers in the toolbox on my work truck for when I get a Subway sub while working away from home. Bottom line is we want Subway to bring back peppers.
And has anybody found out why yet?? Was there a re-call on some peppers?? Corporate level trying to save money?? Sweet peppers just not a popular enough seller in management’s eyes??

  5. If I knew where, and how to buy the sweet peppers, I would buy them. I feel the same. I will probably avoid subway as sweet peppers were the main ingredient. I hope that they bring them back. I’ve complained to the local individual subways that I go to, but they seem to not be able to do anything about it. Just that they discontinued. If anyone knows how to purchase them online or with the name of Brand that would be helpful?

  6. Sweet Peppers were one of the few things that set Subways apart from others. With no sweet peppers, it changes the dynamic of the Sandwich so much that I won’t be going back. Jersey Mike’s is opening up by me, I’ll try them.

  7. No sweet peppers in NJ either. Visited 3 locations. They had fresh bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, and pickled banana peppers, but no sweet peppers! They make the difference with the tuna. I tried substituting sweet onion relish but it wasn’t the same. BRING BACK THE PEPPERS.
