Using Medical Marijuana no gun rights

I read an article where they were pushing for restricting gun rights for people who use medical marijuana. My response to that is quite simple, what’s the problem?

These people are under the influence of some heavy medication. In my opinion that should disqualify them from operating a piece of hardware that can instantly kill people. I don’t think they should be allowed to own a gun, drive a car, or anything that endangers other lives while they are under the influence. I’m a bit more flexible when it comes to driving, provided that we put time limits on it the way we do with alcohol. If you are high, you shouldn’t be driving.

You know, there is a reason that medicine bottles have warnings like “Do not operate any heavy machinery when taking this medication.” I believe that any form of medication that alters your mind or state of being should disqualify you from owning a gun. Especially mental illnesses such as schizophrenia or dementia which can drastically affect your mood, awareness, and aggression levels. It boggles my mind that some people are so progun that they oppose me on this matter.

I’m not trying to discriminate against anyone. However, a person who is lacking in their mental capacity, whether due to illness or some medication, should not be putting themselves or the general population at risk via gun ownership.
