Jing on Urbanspoon

I was walking around with my wife after watching Magdalene trying to find somewhere to eat. We walked up on 9th avenue and eventually passed by this place. We were on the fence about going in, but a gentleman joined us from inside, he came out and told us about the specials and his energy just really impressed me. We were convinced.

We entered and were greeted by a stern waitress, she wasn’t mean, but she wasn’t very friendly. However, the owner/manager Al checked up on us quite often. That balanced everything out for us, he was very pleasant and really made the evening for us. After a nice show, running into such a pleasant restaurant owner was a welcomed bonus.

Now as if that wasn’t enough, out comes the food.  I had the following:

Spicy Kani Roll
Spicy Tuna Roll
Soft shell crab Roll
Five Flavor Chicken.

My wife had some white fish sushi, not sure exactly which ones though and she shared some of my items.

The spider rolls were by far my favorite. My wife also enjoyed them. They didn’t taste fishy, they were just the right amount of crunch, absolute perfection. Hmm… The Kani roll was real crab, the texture was nice, the flavor was also delish! The spicy tuna was not overly spicy, but it was just right. Sushi rolls like this are hard to come by.

The five flavor chicken was good, but it pales in comparison to the rolls. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, but those rolls were soooo good that I simply could not appreciate the chicken as much. I even tried some of my wife’s sushi (dirty minded people) and it was actually pretty good.

Normally I don’t go out of my way to revisit a restaurant, but between the food and Al, I’d say I definitely have a reason to return. I highly recommend this place.

Last night was a five star night for me and my wife.
