So I have been working at my new job now for almost 9 months. Not quite a full year yet, but we are almost there. In that time, I have established myself as one of the top performers on my team as far as metrics go. I’m very proactive when it comes to accepting tickets and picking up phone calls from users. I take the easy ones, I take the hard ones, I take anything that comes my way.
In addition to that, I have also made myself a user favorite by always going above and beyond to give our clients what they want and need. I am personable and work really hard to make them happy and satisfied with my work. I take great pride in that. Now, this is not to say that I have always succeeded in keeping them happy, or that the outcome is always favorable, but I do try my best to do a great job.
I was out of work for a year and a half, and I actually look forward to being useful and contributing. This is good for my mental health. Purpose is important. I work diligently to ensure I deliver on my promises and complete my work.
Not everything is perfect in life, and there have been a few times when my good intentions didn’t lead to the best outcomes. But as with anything, I take the lesson, observe, and adjust accordingly. For the most part, who I am and how I work has served me, the team, and the user population well. There is nothing quite as satisfying as when someone calls, you answer, and they say, “I’m glad I got you Angel, you are one of my favorites,” especially considering how new I am.
While I’m sharing my professional wins here, the real point I want to make is that when you care and put your best foot forward, your users and clients notice that.
I look forward to going into the office and performing my duties. I have a great team and the users are mostly patient and kind people. Some days are extremely busy and it can be stressful, but even then, I enjoy the job. So far so good.

Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
