Amtrak Acela assigned seats

Here’s a little piece of information that I didn’t know and only just recently discovered during my last trip to DC. I don’t know about regular Amtrak trains, but the Acela train now has assigned seats.

I had no idea this was the case and I walked in looking around trying to find a free chair on a very packed train. Then I overheard someone say something to the effect of “I think that is my seat” to someone.” I then looked at my emails from them and realized that the seats were now assigned.

I’m glad that I overheard someone else dealing with that because it would have surely have happened to me as well. In any case, if you didn’t know, now you know. There are assigned seats on Amtrak Acela trains. Who knew?
