Here’s a little piece of information that I didn’t know and only just recently discovered during my last trip to DC. I don’t know about regular Amtrak trains, but the Acela train now has assigned seats.
I had no idea this was the case and walked in looking around for a free chair on a very packed train. Then I overheard someone say something like “I think that is my seat” to someone else. I checked my emails from Amtrak and realized that the seats were now assigned.
I’m glad I overheard that because it would probably have happened to me otherwise. In any case, if you didn’t know, now you know: there are assigned seats on Amtrak Acela trains. Who knew?
