Arcane

I have never played League of Legends, nor am I familiar with any of the game’s story. However, even so we started to watch Arcane on Netflix which is like an origin story to League of Legends. My wife loved the animation and that’s what initially drew her to it. I think the artwork is amazing as well, but we also loved the story.

This animated series was amazing, right from the beginning straight through the end. There is so much happening, so much confusion, miscommunication and all around avoidable insanity that occurs. It is so tragic to see the way it goes down when a little bit of patience could have changed the whole trajectory of the storyline.

The way it starts kind of felt like Game of Thrones where you think that everything will revolve around Ned Stark, or in this case Vandor. However, like Game of Thrones, it focuses on the children and their story. I presume that the main characters in this series are part of the actual video game. I’m not really into that game genre, but that didn’t stop me from really enjoying the series.

The story deals with the haves and the have nots and the usual themes that revolve around that kind of scenario. These range from exploitation of the poor and weak, to corruption within the elite and powerful. One of the main characters, Jinx actually reminds me of the Joker’s girlfriend, Harley Quinn. She’s totally insane and wild.

There are quite a few separate groups of people who have similar goals and it’s all very weird how they end up tying together. I don’t want to get too heavily into the details of the series because I don’t like to accidentally put out any spoilers, but I will close with a highly strong recommendation to watch the show. It was really good.
