Blood Communion Book Review

I just finished Blood Communion by Anne Rice, and it’s another story that mainly focuses on Lestat. In this book, we meet a group of ancient and incredibly powerful vampires. The main plot revolves around the formation of a royal court where Lestat becomes the prince, and a council is established with other vampires.

There are two major villains in the story, one of them being Rhoshamandes, who I honestly feel should have been killed off in the previous book. These villains are against the formation of the court and blame the group for certain past wrongdoings. Of course, Lestat pulls through in the end and manages to resolve everything, but not without a lot of drama along the way.

I’ve always been a big fan of Anne Rice and used to really dive into her detailed descriptions, but these days I find myself skipping over a lot of it. Sometimes, the level of detail—like what a character is wearing or how a room looks—just feels too much. At one point, I think I skipped about four pages of description just to get back to the actual story! I still enjoy her books, but I’m definitely less patient now and just want to get to the meat of the plot.

That said, Blood Communion was a good read, and I’d recommend it if you’re a fan of the Vampire Chronicles. Just be prepared for a lot of the classic Anne Rice detail. If that’s your thing, you’ll love it! If not, then you can skip it like I did.

Great read.
