We just watched Blood Red Sky, and about 5 minutes in I was pretty sure I had seen it before. I checked the year it came out and sure enough, it was old and some scenes were very familiar. We had definitely seen this one, but it had been a while, probably four or five years, so we watched it again.
It is a strange vampire movie built around a plane hijacking, and for what it is, you get a solid two hours of semi entertainment. Not a great film, but not a bad one either. It sits comfortably in the middle.
The part that kept getting under my skin throughout the movie is how many convenient things happen that would never play out that way in real life. Characters react to things they would have no frame of reference for. Situations resolve themselves in ways that stretch logic pretty thin. It piles up after a while and becomes more than a little annoying. Once you notice it, you cannot really stop noticing it.
That said, setting all of that aside, it is what it is. Would you be missing something important if you skipped it? Not at all. But if you have two hours free, you want something mildly entertaining, and you are into vampires or that kind of genre, it is perfectly fine viewing. There are worse ways to spend an evening on the couch.
