So despite my initial impression of the new Call of Duty, Vanguard which you can read here, I continued to try and play the game. I really didn’t want to give up on it so fast.
After a few more hours of playing, I no longer dislike the game. It’s actually become really fun to play. I’ve logged quite a few hours of gameplay during the PC beta. I even maxed out a few of the guns, well, at least as much as they let me, level 30. I’ve found that the maps are fairly easy to learn too. They are not overwhelming and pretty fun.
I suppose it was just a matter of getting used to the new controls, the new maps, the fresh feel, and also my sensitivity settings were a bit off. Once I fixed that and played a bit more, it became a lot of fun. It has some modes like “Patrol” which are really enjoyable. You have to find, move with, and protect the patrol zone.
So yes, I was initially critical of the game, but once I got more comfortable with it, it became loads of fun. I pretty much played it all weekend, and though I still like Cold War a lot, I’ve fallen in love with this game and I will definitely be keeping it.
The beta is over now and I can’t wait for the official game version to drop!
