My son is a fan of Spider Man, Tom Holland. So naturally, he wanted to watch this film. I checked out the trailer and the story caught my interest too.
Now I’ve never been one to listen to or care about what critics say, but apparently this film had really bad reviews. And that’s why I don’t always go by critics’ opinions. I actually thought it was a great film. The acting was top notch, the story, though apparently not entirely faithful to the book, was a pretty good story, and overall I really enjoyed it.
When I looked at the length of the film, I saw that it was a 2 1/2 hour film, that concerned me. However, the time is not noticeable, which to me is a sign of being entertained.
The story is tough because there are small little incidents that lead to really serious outcomes. It’s like one tiny decision or statement can dictate the rest of your life. Watching that happen over the span of Cherry’s life is striking. One moment that influences an entire lifetime.
I’m a veteran, so I felt a lot of empathy for his character and the PTSD. I grew up with drugs in my house, so I understood the pain and struggle of loved ones as well as the addicts. I’ve seen what happens to loved ones, and I really felt for his wife. The story is heavy and intense at times, but it is worth a watch. Holland really showed how diverse his acting skills are. I’m not sure I’ve seen Ciara Bravo acting before, but she also did a great job in this film. Excellent work, you should definitely check this movie out. And as for critics, I think it’s worth forming your own opinion—this movie was a great watch.

Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
