So yesterday when I came in for my customary post workout protein shake at 24 Hour Fitness, I was given one of these Clif Builder’s Protein Bars. I’ve never been big on clif bars because I thought they were too high in carbs/sugar and not enough protein.
However, with this bar, that changes. This mini sample had 10 grams of protein, and a full size would pack 20 grams of protein. It has some carbs, but when it comes to replenishing, you need carbs too. Also, in the presence of protein, the insulin spike is controlled better.
The bar had a really nice crunch to it, it was sort of dry, but also moist. So once you started to chew it, it went down relatively easy. The taste was very good, and it satisfied me as I slept through the whole night after eating it.
As I mentioned before, I’ve never been a big proponent of Clif bars, but they may be on to something with this product. I don’t do “meal replacement bars” which are mainly carbs, I do protein bars! This one happens to have the taste that people love from Clif, and the added protein that people like me demand in a protein bar.
Totally worth a try!
