I went to the bodega to pick up some food items. While talking with my son, packing everything up, and noticing that the eggs were $3.99, I completely forgot that I hadn’t actually paid.
I started to walk out, and the clerk says “1965.” I looked at him with a confused expression. He repeated it again, and I asked, “Why are you talking about that year? I’m not sure I understand.”
He then looked at the machine and repeated, “1965.” That’s when I realized he was telling me the cost of the products. In all of our discussion, my mind jumped past the paying step, and I almost walked out. Of course this wasn’t intentional, but it was pretty funny once it all clicked.
