NYC is starting to feel like it did back in the 80s. You have rampant drug use, random attacks, motorcycle riding thieves, subway slashers, mentally ill homeless people wreaking havoc, and so much more happening. Meanwhile, the DA released a man who put another in a coma and Eric Adams is worried about making Times Square a gun free zone. Let’s explore that.

New York City is showing some troubling signs that echo conditions from decades past. Reports of open drug use, unprovoked attacks, organized theft involving motorcycles, subway incidents, and concerns around unsheltered individuals with mental health challenges are all part of a growing conversation about public safety in the city. At the same time, questions are being raised about prosecutorial decisions, including a case where a suspect allegedly left a victim in a coma, as well as Mayor Eric Adams’ focus on designating Times Square as a gun free zone. These are important issues worth examining closely.
