Florida man who used ‘Stand Your Ground’ Is Charged After Parking Lot Shooting

Most reasonable gun owners and by that I mean many of us, agreed that this self proclaimed accessibility parking spot shooter was clearly out of bounds with this shooting. Michael Drejka shot and killed Markeis McGlockton AFTER McGlockton pushed him to the ground over a dispute.

None of us have stated that Markeis who pushed him down to the ground was in the right. But, we can all acknowledge that at the moment Drejka fired his weapon he was no longer in danger and that Markeis was backing away from him.

Drejka murdered Markeis when he presented no further threat of bodily harm or death. He was BACKING UP! I was very upset with the Sheriff for not taking action but I’m glad that the State Attorney is proceeding with charges here.

State Attorney Bernie McCabe’s decision to charge Drejka signals that prosecutors believe they can show by “clear and convincing” evidence that a stand your ground defense is not applicable in Drejka’s case.

Benjamin Crump, who represented Trayvon Martin’s family is representing Tiffany Jacobs, McGlockton’s girlfriend who was part of the altercation that day.
