I did. Over the years I’ve received many, some of which had random balances like $13.63. The problem with cards like that is that you can’t find anything that is the exact same price to purchase and they end up sitting around forever.
I recently discovered a pretty cool life hack that I’m going to share with you today. I had about 5 of those gift cards with the random amounts on them. I went to amazon, and I purchased amazon gift cards for the exact amount that was remaining on each of those gift cards. Of course, make sure you change the payment method to use the random gift cards otherwise you are basically doing nothing. I then sent the new amazon gift cards to myself and then I added them to my amazon gift card balance.
Boom, now I have over $200 worth of random gift cards merged into one platform that I use a lot. Now I can combine all those funds into proper purchasing power. In fact, I just used them to buy a much needed 4 terabyte ssd drive for my media server.
- Find the random gift cards.
- Determine the balance and buy yourself an amazon gift card for the same balance, paying with the random gift cards you have.
- Add the balance to your amazon gift cards.
- Buy cool stuff.
That’s it, you are now good to go. Of course this assumes you have an amazon account and use it. I’m not sure if other sites let you do the same thing, but you can try it if you prefer elsewhere. For me amazon makes sense because I get everything there.

Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
