Racist Reactions to Jesse Williams’s BET Speech on Race

I mean, you knew, you absolutely knew that if a Black man spoke out about police brutality, racism, and inequality, there would be backlash. But wait, he’s not completely Black, so he gets a pass, right? Please. Even white people who speak up are targeted. As expected, and not ones to disappoint, here are the responses that clearly show the problem. Some are very extreme, like the commenters you see here. By the way, these reactions only reinforce his point.

Then there are those like Stacy Dash, who made a comment calling him a plantation slave. That kind of response doesn’t help anyone.

And of course, there are some who take a political angle in a way that seems to mask underlying issues with race.

Some people may not intend to sound offensive or insensitive but simply don’t understand the full context.
