As I rode the train to work this morning, I observed a homeless man sleeping on the train. Moments later, another very fat, large homeless man entered the train and started to scream at the one that was sleeping. “Wake up you idiot! You are taking up the seats. What’s wrong with you? Idiot.”
Uhm, what’s wrong with you man? You are walking around with an unbuttoned shirt, your belly exposed, and you don’t smell good. Where do you get off attacking and screaming at this other guy?
I’ve often spoken of the predicament homeless people face in New York City, but who knew that within the homeless community, there was this type of bullying and abuse? I mean, I know that it is a dog eat dog world out there, and I know that the displaced community can rob and harm one another. However, I had never seen it with my own eyes though.
Bizarre. Even the homeless world has a hierarchy.
