We just finished watching Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which recently came out on Amazon Prime, and I have to say, John Krasinski has done a real job reinventing himself as a legitimate action star. Most people know him from his comedy roots, but he has carved out a completely different lane for himself and it works.

The Jack Ryan series as a whole was solid entertainment from start to finish. The franchise held up well across its run and kept things engaging without overstaying its welcome. Now with the first feature film, Ghost War, they have taken the character into a bigger format and it delivers. By the time we were watching, it was already sitting at number one in the US for movies, which tracks because the film earns it.

Is it the greatest movie ever made? No. But it does not need to be. It is well paced, well acted, and entertaining in the way a good action thriller should be. Krasinski carries it with a grounded energy that fits the character. The overall flow of the film keeps you in it without feeling bloated or slow.

If you have not checked out the Jack Ryan franchise yet, it is worth starting from the beginning. And if you are already a fan of the series, Ghost War is a natural next step. Krasinski has done a great job building this character over time and the film reflects that.
