I was saddened to learn today that the Genius, aka Leaping Lanny Poffo had died. As I looked around for details, I couldn’t find anything on the cause of death. Lanny was 68 years old.
Some years ago, I performed at an event hosted by Evan Ginzburg in the city. It was at a nice, posh restaurant. Edwin Vazquez was there, and so was leaping Lanny. My mom came to the performance as well. I did her poem turned song, “Dear momma.”
I got to meet Lanny that day and he was cordial and nice to me. He was also friendly to my mom who was quite happy about her song doing a song about her. I’m surprised to hear he passed so suddenly, it is a shame. Rest in peace leaping man!
Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
