I had a realization today about my time in karate as a kid nearly 40 years ago. There was always this one guy, the lone adult green belt in a sea of children. At the time, he was just another student, but looking back as an adult, it is interesting how differently we perceive these social dynamics once we are older.
He did not have kids in the class, and the only other adult was the instructor. It is entirely possible he was just someone who wanted to learn a new skill and did not mind training alongside younger students. Does anyone else remember having that lone adult in their childhood activities?
