This series is a mystery cop drama with a fairly serious and somber tone. Kate Winslet delivers a strong performance as a detective who carries a lot of personal grief and remains quite down throughout the series.
The main storyline revolves around solving the murder of a young woman, which leads to various complications and challenges. The detective’s situation is definitely difficult and evokes a lot of sympathy.
The setting is a small town where everyone knows each other, and people can casually drop by their neighbors’ homes. Adding to the dynamic, her ex-husband and his fiancée live right behind her, yet they maintain a surprisingly friendly and cooperative co-parenting relationship.
There are multiple subplots that may or may not connect to the central mystery, and the show offers some unexpected twists. Overall, this is a well-executed series that’s worth watching. You can find it on HBOMAX.
