Nick Fury: My War Gone By – A Gritty, Realistic Comic Exploring War, Politics, and Human Struggles

This comic explores Nick Fury’s participation in earlier wars and conflicts. Although he survives some intense situations, Fury is depicted as essentially human, without superhuman abilities.

The story includes common aspects of war, such as politicians who prioritize their image over the well-being of soldiers. It shows how these politicians sometimes abandon soldiers who are carrying out their duties under the claim of serving their country and defending freedom. The narrative offers a critical perspective on this behavior.

Fury is involved to some extent in conflicts ranging from World War II to the Bay of Pigs invasion. The storyline is somewhat disjointed and can be hard to follow, made more challenging by some unusual art. As a product of the MAX era, it features a mature and gritty tone. While it’s an okay read, I almost gave up on it because of these issues.
