Apparently, this is the first weekend since 1993 where not a single person was shot. City officials stated that no shootings with victims were reported Friday, Saturday or Sunday. That does not mean there were no “shootings” per se, but no shooting with victims were reported.
It is worth noting what this suggests about typical weekends in NYC, but a quiet weekend is still something worth acknowledging. A moment like this deserves recognition while it lasts.
Unfortunately, the stretch did not last long. Monday brought a return to form, as a man was shot in the Bronx during the afternoon hours. He is expected to survive.
A brief but notable moment of calm, nonetheless.
