I started watching Project Hail Mary and while I gave it a real shot, it just did not hold my attention. The pacing was slow and the plot felt too familiar. There is a pretty obvious similarity to the film Sunshine, where the sun is dying and a crew is sent to do something about it. That basic premise has been done before, and the way it plays out here did not bring anything new enough to keep me locked in.

I do not want to drop spoilers, but I will say I held on for about an hour before I had to call it. And that last stretch was me really pushing through. I had already started checking out well before that point. Just could not commit to another hour of it.

Maybe it picks up later. Maybe it is the kind of story that rewards patience. But for me, slow burn only works if there is enough pulling you forward, and this one just did not have that pull.
