Review Cold Spring Depot

[rating:.5]

I really don’t like to spend a lot of energy writing about places I don’t like, but you gotta do the good and the bad. I give them half a star because the seating area was kind of nice, there is potential here. Although it is right by the train tracks, and the train is very loud. But, well. Yeah.

This is another one of those restaurants that I call a “default” place. It means it’s the only one that is easily accessible. I recently covered barnstormer, also a default restaurant, but the experiences could not have been any further apart.

The waiter at this place wasn’t attentive at all. Maybe they are understaffed? I don’t know, but it was like pulling teeth to get anything here. Items were practically slammed on the table. Everything felt rushed, and it was not a pleasant experience at all.

My wife ordered a chicken pot pie, and I am not exaggerating when I tell you that this was the nastiest, sorriest impersonation of a chicken pot pie that I have even seen. Think of a big slop of gunk, and then putting a weird, large piece of bread on top of it. Really? Neither of us could eat this thing, it was just disgusting.

I decided to play it safe and got a burger and fries. The burger was at best, below mediocre. The drinks, what can I say about the drinks? We sent them back and asked for water. Totally disgusting, the drinks tasted like sugar water without much sugar. It was just really bad.

Look, eat something big before driving or riding the train into this town, and do yourself a favor, eat somewhere else.
