Years ago I traveled to Indonesia with my girlfriend at the time. We visited Bali and some of the surrounding areas, and it left a strong impression on me. What stood out the most was the amount of construction happening everywhere. At the same time, it was clear that many locals were dealing with real economic challenges, and that contrast gave me a lot to think about.
Despite that, the country was beautiful. The mountainous regions, hot springs, rain forests, and the villa we stayed in made the trip unforgettable. I’ve always hoped that conditions have improved there for the people who live and work in those areas.
