Today someone posted a picture of Peter Wang. His motivations were political, simply to knock on Hogg, Gonzalez, and the other kids who are speaking up now. Honestly, I don’t care about the politics at this moment. I’m sharing this because I hadn’t heard the name Peter Wang, and I wanted to know if the story was true. So I looked into it, and it’s all true.
Peter Wang was killed while holding the door trying to help his schoolmates escape from that sick, despicable waste of life, Nikolas Cruz. Cruz is sitting pretty in a Broward County Jail, while family members mourn the death of their loved ones who barely even got a start at life. As I looked through stories and pictures of Wang’s story, I came across this one of his mom mourning the loss of her baby boy.
I can’t look at this picture without my eyes balling up into tears. To see a mother crying this way, clearly destroyed while her son was senselessly murdered by this trash, it’s heartbreaking. Her sadness transcends time and its as heartbreaking now as the day it was taken.
Peter wanted to be a soldier, and he was a member of the JROTC. To honor his bravery, he was posthumously accepted into Westpoint Military Academy. I’m sure this is of little comfort to his mother and family, but I appreciate the gesture to honor this brave young man. My heart goes out to Peter’s family and friends.
