The Dog Waste Problem in Our Neighborhoods

I’ve noticed something that really bothers me when I’m out and about. There’s dog waste scattered all over the place in my neighborhood, but when I head out to the Bronx to visit my mom, it seems like the problem gets multiplied by four. The whole block looks like it’s been neglected, and I don’t get it.

I live here. You live here. We all have to walk through these streets every day. So why are we treating our own neighborhoods this way? It feels like people assume someone else is going to clean it up, but that’s not how it works. That mindset doesn’t hold water when you’re the one stepping over it on your way to work.

I get that this isn’t just an issue in the Bronx. I see it happening in my own area too. But it does seem to show up more frequently when I’m visiting out there. Maybe it’s just more noticeable, or maybe there’s something else going on. Either way, it comes down to the same thing: we’re living in these neighborhoods, and how we treat them matters. If you have a dog, you’re responsible for cleaning up after it. That’s just being a good neighbor to the people around you. Have some respect!
