My wife told me about this show called The Final Draft. It’s similar to Physical 100 in that they get athletes and competitors who are getting a second chance at greatness. The prize is around 200,000 dollars, but it feels like it’s trying to recreate that formula without quite hitting the same mark.

I watched one episode and wasn’t particularly impressed or invested. The whole thing felt a bit derivative. I wasn’t sure I’d keep watching it, but my wife wanted to keep going with it, so I gave another episode a try last night. I just think the other show did a better job with everything, especially when it comes to making you care about the people competing.

There’s something about how Physical 100 was structured that made you want to stick around for these competitors. You got to know them, their stories felt real, and you actually cared who made it to the end. The Final Draft has the same basic framework but something got lost in the translation. Maybe it’s the editing, maybe it’s the casting, or maybe it’s just that the first version did it right and now everything else feels like an imitation.

I’m not writing it off completely. My wife’s got me watching another episode tonight, and I’m open to being wrong about this one. Sometimes these shows take a few episodes to find their rhythm. But right now, if you’ve already seen Physical 100, The Final Draft might feel a little thin by comparison.
