I came across this film yesterday by chance. I have been a Naruto fan for a very long time, so I was genuinely excited to see a new film featuring one of my favorite anime characters. I sat down and watched it right away.
The film features a story about a villainous ninja who is attempting to destroy the world, and he possesses some kind of moon-based powers. He is elusive and formidable, fitting the familiar setup of a new Naruto enemy.
The part I want to talk about that really stood out to me was the long-awaited Naruto and Hinata love story. After all those years of watching them hesitate over what could have been an amazing relationship, we finally get to see how it all came together. Even in this film, there is still some hesitation from both Naruto and Hinata, which felt very true to their characters.
Watching this film brings a lot of nostalgia as it revisits many moments from the Naruto and Shippuden series. It can be emotional throughout. The villain feels more like a background element, and I found that aspect less engaging. They could have focused the entire film on the love story, and I would have been just as satisfied, if not more so.
If you have ever been a Naruto fan and are on the fence about watching this movie because it might seem like more of the same, it is worth giving it a chance. It is charming and well worth your time.
