So we have moved on to the original Vikings series now, and it is really good. We are both enjoying it and having a great time watching it together.

Something happened recently in the show that I keep thinking about. One of the jarls, Jarl Borg, was upset about something that King Horik and Ragnar did, and to be fair to him, it was pretty messed up. They had agreed to stopping a war and going rading together as one. Horik told him that he didn’t want Borg there and forced Ragnar to tell him. I think Ragnar should have pushed back on King Horik’s idea, but he went along with it. Because of that, Jarl Borg felt disrespected. He waited for the men to leave the village, then came in and invaded it and killed a bunch of people. It was a cowardly thing to do, attacking a village while the men were away. No two ways about it. But in a way, I can’t blame him for wanting to take something away from the man who betrayed him first.

Ragnar eventually agreed to let Jarl Borg come back so they could unite and go raiding together. But what I did not see coming was that Ragnar had no intention of actually forgiving him. I was pretty frustrated when I saw him agree to it because the whole thing felt off. My take is that King Horik deserves a share of the blame too, since it was his decision to break the original agreement that set all of this in motion in the first place.

When Ragnar finally made his way back from England alone and took back him home, King Horik showed up later and started pushing him to return there for revenge while Ragnar had his own score to settle with Jarl Borg. The king, as usual, seemed to be focused on what worked best for him. Ragnar appeared to go along with it, but in the end he did not. He took out Jarl Borg and burned all his warriors alive, and honestly it was one of the most satisfying moments the show has delivered so far.
