The perpetual construction site

NYC is a big city, it is natural that in a big city there is always construction going on. However, I have to be honest and say that I am pretty much fed up with living in a perpetual construction site.

First it was that God forsaken umbrella hotel being built. We dealt with that construction for years and years. Then we have the building right next to that one which was demolished and has been under construction for years and years since then. That one is so close to us that their scaffolding comes over on our property to protect us.

At one point or another our building or the building across the street have had scaffolding. Now, as if this damn building being built next to us wasn’t enough, our management office and board approved mandatory “facade” work on our building. That means more scaffolding for who knows how long! So far it has been about 5 months.

I was told that the building next to us may be completed by September and then the scaffolding can come down. I really hope that is the case as I am totally over it at this point. However, even then, we’ll still have a months of scaffolding on our building due to the “facade” work being done.

I’m sure that all these nonsense facade requirements stem from some real estate person that a politician is beholden to. And because of them, we are living in a perpetual construction site. I’m so over it y’all!
