Some years ago I was at a zoo. I can’t quite remember which zoo or when this happened, but I’ve never forgotten the event and how I learned about the power of tigers that day.
I was standing on the safe side of a tiger enclosure, then from a distance I saw a large tiger walking towards me. It fixed me with its gaze and I looked directly into the tiger’s eyes. At that point my body froze and all I could see were the eyes as it walked towards me. I was locked in place and I wondered if this was a special gift that tigers had in order to take down prey?
I mean I literally felt frozen in place, trapped by its stare. I don’t know if it was just fear, or what, but I couldn’t move. Before I knew it the big cat was right in front of me, and if not for the large glass wall between us, I’m sure that I would have been a nice snack.
The experience was fascinating but terrifying at the same time. Have you ever had an experience like this before?
Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
