Love him or hate him, after this last fight, Jake Paul deserves some respect. At one point he knew he was hurt and that he was going to keep on getting hurt, but he didn’t quit. You could see it in his eyes; he was sacrificing his well-being to give us a show. He paid for this with a broken jaw and a tough loss. I respect the determination he showed. He didn’t have to keep going and could have stopped after the first few knockdowns and likely avoided injury, but he chose to keep fighting.
No matter what anyone says, I give this guy props. He kept getting back up despite knowing the outcome was likely decided. He did that for the fans. He has heart. Even if his boxing career is impacted by his injury, he can still focus on promoting and putting on strong events, especially for women’s boxing. Some of the fights he’s hosted have been solid. He’s earned my respect.
I think Logan knew his brother was in trouble and that’s probably why he looked concerned. We naturally want to look out for our siblings. Despite the trash talk and many wanting Jake to lose, especially after the Tyson situation, it was tough to watch. It reminded me of many fighters who keep getting up and fighting after being knocked down. Jake Paul started late in the sport, which makes his commitment stand out even more. That kind of grit deserves recognition.
