We finished Vikings Valhalla, and I have some thoughts.
Season three was intentionally written as the final season, and it shows. The show does not leave you hanging the way some series do when they get cancelled without warning. Looking at you, Southland. That one ended abruptly with no real closure, and it still stings. Vikings Valhalla is a different story. The major characters all got their due by the end, and while a few things felt slightly unresolved, the way everything was presented made it clear those loose ends are implied to work themselves out. They did not spell it out for you, but they gave you enough to feel at peace with it.
I would have liked to see a little more resolution on certain storylines they were building throughout the season. But I can appreciate what they did. The energy of the characters, the way the final episodes were handled, it all pointed toward things falling into place the way they were meant to. Sometimes a show trusts you enough to fill in the blanks yourself, and that is what this one does at the end.
Overall it is a great show and absolutely worth watching. Strong performances, solid storytelling, and a finale that respects the audience even if it does not tie every bow perfectly.
Up next for us is the original Vikings.
