Waggy Tail and Korean K9 Rescue: A Day at Two NYC Dog Adoption Events

Last night was a little stressful, the kind of evening where things get tense and you both just need a reset. So today, somewhat on a whim and mostly in the spirit of lifting our moods, Wifey and I decided to check out a couple of dog adoption events happening around the city.

The first was hosted by WaggyTail Rescue and was held in the open bar area of a hotel, which made for a surprisingly warm and welcoming setup. There were plenty of dogs to meet, interact with, and just spend a little time with. We got to talk to the fosters, learn how the organization operates, and hear about their need for more people willing to foster dogs in the weeks before they find their forever homes.

The second event was hosted by Korean K9 Rescue and had a completely different vibe, held on the second floor of what appeared to be a CBD shop. It was a smaller gathering with fewer dogs present, but that comes with the territory. Turnout at these events depends entirely on which fosters are available to bring their animals out that day. The people there clearly cared deeply about the dogs in their charge and the organization behind it.

Wifey and I are still grieving the loss of our sweet Peppa and we are nowhere near ready to bring another dog into our lives just yet. This was her idea and I went along with it, and I am glad I did. Sometimes you do not need to be ready for something to still benefit from it. Spending a couple of hours surrounded by dogs who just want love and attention was exactly the kind of afternoon we both needed.
